Hi Ritchie:
I have put an article on Apostasy on this discussion forum. It is twenty-two pages long. A long read I know. But it covers this subject of Disfellowshipping with the marking and shunning practice. Also one other on Branding others Apostate. In my heart of hearts I feel it shows that this practice was for the first century Christians not for the modern day one's. If you get time read those articles and let me know your feelings on them. Bill Parker

Shunning is worse than the worst crime possible
by Richie ini have come to the conclusion that the shunning practices of the jw's are in fact worse than the worst crime committed.
just imagine, your own daughter shunning you, not wanting to see me or her first son (my grandson).
whenever i walk around in the village i live and i happen to encounter jw's, they don't even acknowledge that i exist at all!!.

Apostacy!!!
by Bill Parker ini intend to show with this article that the man of lawlessness is the anti-christ and that the activity of this composite person is what constitutes the abomination of desolation.
this shows the anti-christ and the man of lawlessness to be one and the same composite person.
we have seen that the anti-christ exalts himself {not appointed by god} then we learned that the man of lawlessness takes his seat in the temple of god.

Hi pettygrudger:
No! Most definitely not! I believe what the Bible say's. "Where the Spirit of Jehovah is there is freedom" 2Corinthians 3:17 If the freedom is not there neither is the Spirit of Jehovah. You well know the freedom is not there! I was told by an Elder to "keep your opinions to yourself" That's funny I thought Canada's Charter told me that I had a right to my opinions and to freely express those opinions. That Elder would bitch and moan if you said that to him in the door to door work. Of course he wants his right's and freedoms but doesn't allow anyone else in the congregation to have their's. Let me tell you this: you couldn't drag me back in there with a Mack Truck! Hi Pureheart!
Your right about staying awake. I guess what I have been trying to do by being immersed in these Bible subjects is to do just that. I really tried to stay within the guidlines of the Bible when I did that article. Even so I was deeply troubled after I finished it. What's the Bible say? "Even when you think you know a thing you do not yet know it just as you should" 1Corinthians 8:2 That should keep people humble. I wonder if the W.T.S. has read that scripture yet?The scripture that you cited at Matthew 22:37-40 really say's it all doesn't it? It seems to me in the entire religious realm it simply is not there? What we have is a religious wasteland devoid of any compassion kindness or mercy. They fold their hands over their hearts and piously tell you they are christian. ??? Bill Parker

Hi Serena:
Logical put you on the right track. But why not consider what Jesus stated in Matthew 18: 20 "Where two or three are gathered together in my name I shall be there with them" Gather together with your children and study the Bible with them. Jesus will be right there in your midst.Maybe add a few friends who are liked minded. Does that scripture not show you that it is not necessary to be gathered together in a large organization? Just two people can sit down together earnestly seeking for truth and Jesus will be right there in among them. How strong is your faith? Do you really believe that? I think that you do. Maybe this whole rotten world will abandon you. Jehovah never will if you follow that direction. To hell with those who mark and shun you. They are not worth the powder to blow them into gehenna. THere's is coming! Bill Parker -

Hi Trevor:
I was for twenty one years one of Jehovah's Witnesses as they understand that to be.
I left after an incident at a Book Study one night. We were studying in the Revelation Book a subject dealing with the cry of "Peace and Security". The Elder so called conducting the Book Study was summing up all of the comments that he received. I put my hand up and when he called for me to answer I told him that what he had stated was not correct. Things got a trifle nasty after that. He said; "I will speak to you privately at a later time." Then he said in his arrogant tones: "I am the Book Study conducter here" With that I stood up told him to "conduct away" and walked out.According to scripture he was supposed to speak to me privately and he knew that. Instead I got a phone call from another Elder who accused me of "challanging the Faithful Slave" He then asked me if I "wanted to leave the truth." Then he threw another insult by asking me "when I was going to start celebrating birthdays?" That made me very angry and I threatened to change the direction of his nose. The language that I used at that time would have made a mule skinner blush. But you see they had no scriptural support for their actions. The same way they had no scriptural support for their interpretation of what the Apostle Paul said about that cry. I went on by various letters to them and to the Society that proved beyond all doubt that they were in the wrong I was in the right. They owed me an apology. That has never been forthcoming. I told them pointblank that when I got the apology I would return and take my seat at the Kingdom Hall. They rang my buzzer one day and said they wanted to come down and talk. I said is this about an apology?. In a very nasty tone I was told "NO." At that point I told them to "GET LOST" They did. I have never heard from them since and that is fine with me.All the Apostle Paul foretold was an ongoing peace process that would end in "bitter weeping." What really ticked me off the most is they offer their interpretation without supplying you one witness from the Bible. The reason they do not is because the witnesses for their interpretation are not there. Three that I can point to directly contradict their interpretation. We are under command to "Test the inspired expression" Since that is the case how much more so should we test the uninspired expression?I had done that. I had done my homework. I knew what I was talking about. My argument was scripturally sound. However they never give you a chance to present it. They tried to make a judicial matter out of it. For some reason unknown to me they could not do so. That said to me that "we want you to leave." I was happy to do so. Shortly after that my wife of twenty-one long years left the marriage arrangement. Proably because of the influence of you know who. Her last words to me were "YOU ARE AN APOSTATE" NIce eh? Hi Skally:
This article is so well researched and so on the money. It supplied me with information I could have used a time or two back along the road. This is a teaching that I disagreed with at a book study some six years ago. I have been away from the meetings ever since.
I went down to the library on Yonge Street and researched the "Peace and Security" issue. I gleaned some very good information from the Toronto Daily Star-The Globe And Mail and The Evening Telegram. I focused on the Munich Conference in the year 1938. I still have these photo copied papers. If ever a "Universal Cry Of Peace And Security" was to come it already arrived in 1938 when Neville Chamberlain returned from Munich. He claimed: "I believe we have peace in our time, peace with honor" The whole world echoed Chamberlains words "Peace in our time" "Peace with honor" At that time there was jubilation around the world. Did Jehovah's Day arrive then? Nope! One year later World War Two broke out in all its fury. That is the form the 'sudden destruction" has been taking for many years now. All Paul foretold was an ongoing peace process that would end in bitter weeping not a universal cry of peace and security! One has to wonder why they so stubburnly hold to a teaching that world history contradicts even more than that so does the Bible. We notice when ever they supply their interpretation of that prophecy spoken by Paul they never supply any of the required "two or three witnesses" to back up what they are saying. The reason is those witnesses are not there. The ones that are contradict their interpretation. Your article was so good I am going to print it off. If I can. Bill Parker -

Hi Trevor:
I live in Toronto Ontario. To be more precise at Walmer Road and St. Clair Avenue. I kind of enjoy being on this board. It gives me incentive to dig into scriptural things where otherwise I might just dry up and blow away in the winds of this terribly troubled world. Bill Parker -

What are apostates?
by mindfield infirst off, let me tell you that i don't view you guys, or myself, as apostates.
that word somehow carries along with it a negative sense of destruction and hate.
what i'm wondering is, what is an apostate then?

To Fed up!
I guess that you are not the only one who is! First of all you would have to be able to read the heart in order to brand someone as an apostate. Do you know anyone today who has been empowered by Jehovah as the fist century christian were who can read the heart? If you look at Acts 5:1-11 you will see that the Apostle Peter was able to do that. Why? Because those early christians had the gifts of the spirit. We know those gifts came to an end. Recall the statement made by Jesus in John 7:24. He said "Do not judge accoprding to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment" In order to follow that direction properly of necessity you would have to be able to read the heart. Look at Isaiah 11:1-3. The latter part of verse 3 says: "And he will not judge by what his eye's see,Nor make a decision by what his ears hear" Verse four sums it up nicely: "But with RIGHTEOUSNESS He will judge the poor, and decide with fairness for the afflicted of the earth" ...1 Samuel 16:7 adds this in part: "for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance but Jehovah looks at the heart" So you see those judged as apostates today have been judged merely on the basis of what those in positions of authority see with their eyes and hear with their ears. That does not fulfill the divine requirments for judging. The judgment has been grossly unfair and not supported by Jehovah. Those who have been branded as apostates today just have to hang in. Eventually Jehovah will straighten it all out. I might add to the embarassment of those guilty of their unfair practice of judgment. None today who have been branded apostate by the Governing Body and their Elder arrangement are really apostate in Jehovah's eye's. They have not been dealt with fairly. Jehovah would never support that! When indivividuals are judged by Jehovah's appointed judge in His due time then those judged as apostates really will be such. But no man today can make that judgment call because no man today has been empowered by Jehovah to read the heart. If anyone thinks they can I got to meet that one. There are many behavioural problems today that cause people to speak and act in a manner that would appear to others as being very unchristian conduct. Those afflicted in this manner are not bad they are ill. Those in positions of authority are not medical practicioners they would not even recognize that these one's are ill. So how could their judgments be any where near accurate? Judas Iscariot was an apostate. He had the highest honor bestowed on him by Jehovah God. Immortal Life in the heavens could have been his.He knew who Jesus was. He was granted to understand the sacred secets of the Kingdom of heaven. Yet he betrayed his master Christ Jesus.Look at Hebrews 6:4-6 This applied to Judas Iscariot. He was "a partaker of the Holy Spirit" he "had once and for all been enlightened". That was a sin he could not repent of. If anyone has to ask "What is an apostate" he definitely could not be one. One who really was wouldn't give two hoots in hell one way or the other. Just keep trying to do your best that is all anyone can do who has been branded by those oppressive wolves. Sooner or later they will get what is coming to them. You know the old saying: "What goes around comes around." Bill Parker -

Isn't faith in Jesus Christ dependant on accurate knowledge of everything stated in the Bible about Him? I was simply adressing the point of discussion started by someone else. It wasn't my subject! However as someone else brought out why argue at all about the method used to execute Him in the first place? The only reason I supplied the information that I did was because that was what the Bible had to say about it. So I simply supplied that information. Not that it isn't already known. Faith in Jesus Christ is another subject to be covered during another discussion. I have always found that when dealing with any scriptural subject one does not just supply answers off the top of his head. Sometimes it takes a lot of time to gather the necessary scriptural information. One has to make absolutely certain that his material is backed up by the required "two or three witnesses." I mean witnesses that actually support everything he is saying. Otherwise what he may end up doing is offering his own "private interpretation" which wouldn't be worth diddly squat if you will pardon the expression. For me everything that can be supported by the scriptures is pertinent to having faith in Jesus Christ. If it cannot be supported it has no relevance. The subject under discussion "Cross or Stake" to my mind is covered in the Bible and has everything to do with faith in Jesus Christ. Of course if you do not agree with that that is fine. You have the freedom to believe anything that you want. By that same token so do I! So does everyone else. Bill Parker
